Riding for the Handicapped of Western PA Inc. offers physical therapy for emotionally, mentally, and physically challenged children and adults. The program is free. Through riding, participants strengthen their back and leg muscles, exercising as they balance while the horses walk.

Trained physical therapists assist the instructors, who themselves are certified.

RHWPA is a member of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association and the PA Council on Therapeutic Horsemanship. It is one of 250 national programs accredited, and the only free program in Western PA.
